Writing with Rocky- A partnership with AISD

Writing with Rocky is a creative partnership between RockOne Realty and Amarillo ISD that transforms real estate into a classroom adventure with ripple effects far beyond the classroom. Each week, two fourth-grade classes from different schools go head-to-head as students receive real property listings and, after a spirited visit from Rocky the Great, are challenged to rewrite the descriptions in their own words.

For the students, it’s more than a writing exercise—it’s a chance to practice real-world communication, creativity, and persuasion with an authentic audience. Kids build literacy, imagination, and teamwork, while gaining the confidence that comes from seeing their work published and celebrated by the broader community.

For the community, the program offers a unique way to support young learners. Neighbors get to cast votes online and at open houses, becoming active participants in the students’ growth. What could have been just another listing becomes a platform for connection, pride, and encouragement.

For the sellers and their listings, this is a fresh burst of visibility and energy. Properties are showcased through the eyes of children, creating descriptions that are engaging, surprising, and memorable. The buzz of community voting and news coverage gives homes extra attention, transforming marketing into a shared celebration.

Six weekly winners are chosen and awarded prizes, building excitement for both the kids and their supporters. At the end of the semester, all weekly winners compete for the Grand Prize, where the winning student’s school earns a trophy and bragging rights, their class enjoys a celebratory party, and the overall winner is proudly announced on the news.

At its heart, Writing with Rocky builds bridges—between students and their community, between education and real-world application, and between real estate and storytelling. It’s literacy with purpose, marketing with heart, and a reminder that everyone wins when kids are given the chance to shine.
